Hare Krishna everyone, we had our 60th Bhakti Vriksha class on Friday 12/16/2016 conducted by HG Gadadhar Pandit Das at Amit Prabhu and Ekta Mataji home and below are the points related to Verse 2.62 we discussed.
- In Verse 2.62 the supreme personality of Godhead said; While contemplating the object of senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises.
- While we are going verse by verse each week we still need to understand that Krishna is saying all of this to Arjuna, all these things spoken by Krishna are still relevant in today’s world.
- Krishna here is explaining the disadvantages of attachment to Arjuna..
- The whole Mahabharata battle is happening because of attachment. Because of Dhrutrashtra’s attachment to Duryodhan who was incapable of ruling all of his sons had to die.
- Ravana had all the beautiful women in universe at his serve, but still he developed attachment for Sita, which lead to his destruction.
- There are 4 stages to attachment
- Contemplate.
- To get attached.
- Lust.
- Anger
- In mall when we see a product which we do not want but if we pass across that product multiple times our mind automatically start convincing us that we need that product to operate more efficiently . We start contemplating about the product, this is the first stage of attachment.
- Upon contemplating for a while we get attached to the product.
- Once attachment develops then it causes lust in our mind, the lust here is not a sexual lust but the lust due to the attachment of certain things, and from lust anger develops
- When we go thru all these stages we should acknowledge and recognize these stages, so that when next time we start developing attachment .we should try and break this cycle of attachment.
- Senses are like serpents , we should engage our senses just like Ambarish Maharaj engaed his sense.
- Using eyes to see Krishna, keep a photo of Krishna in our home to which we should daily see.
- Listening kirtan , always play kirtan in home in background silently when you are doing some work.
- Listening to Krishna kath and coming together every week for Bhakti Vriksha class.
- Speaking about Krishna, tell your friends and relatives about Krishna.
- Smelling the flower offered to Krishna, this will purify the heart.
- Bough down in front of Krishna and other devotees.
- Prabhupad used to engage devotees in the sense of tongue the most, he used to keep a big jar of Gulab jamun in temple hall and used to say that you can have these any time you want.
- Most of the people getting associated with ISKCON movement in early days were hippies , who were drug addict. So in order to replace those heavy drugs Prabhupad used Gulab Jamun, which is also very heavy. He then said I got you all by your tongue.
- Rupa Goswami in nectar of instruction said that a devotee should be excited and passionate to hear and learn about Krishna, a devotee should be confident that this process will work.
- Sometimes we want the process to work immediately but we need to give proper time for the process to work.
- Don’t listen to mind, mind will always say no to devotional service.
- We ignore mind for so many things, we really have to fight our mind.
- Maya is sitting outside our mind, the moment we let ourselves lose maya will enter in our mind will take us back in the world of illusion. We have to constantly fight maya and our mind by regular chanting and coming in association like this.
Thanks all for coming!!
Thanks to all matajis for sumptuous prasadam.
