Hare Krishna everyone, we had our 58th Bhakti Vriksha class  on Friday 12/02/2016 conducted by HG Sundarnath Prabhuji at Amit Prabhu and Ekta Mataji home and below are the points related to Verse 2.60 we discussed in the class.

In Verse 2.60 the supreme personality of Godhead said; The senses are so strong and impetuous, O Arjuna, that they forcibly carry away the mind even of man of discrimination who is endeavoring to control them.

  • In verse 2.54 Arjuna asked  Krishna about the qualities of a person who is whose consciousness is merged in transcendence , there were total 5 questions Arjuna asked in 2.54 and Krishna has responded from verse 2.55 to 2.60 .
  • Whenever in our life miseries come the first affect in our routine is on spirituality we stop chanting or any other God’s service whereas it should be opposite, we should take God’s shelter more in case of miseries; that is a symptom of conscious person.
  • 10 or 20 years back we weren’t attached to mobile because mobile phone didn’t even exist then but today our day starts and ends with mobile. The very first thing we do after waking up is check our mobile and before going to sleep also we check our mobile. This attachment to mobile was not developed over night this attachment was developed gradually similarly to be Krishna conscious is a process and higher taste will develop over the period of time.
  • When we develop strong determination for spiritual activities we will develop habit to give up negative things in our life.
  • Even though if one is determined then also one can get carried away; e.g. Vishwakarma had strong determination but he got carried away by Menaka because he didn’t take spiritual guidance under God’s shelter he was doing it by himself.
  • The only way to not get carried away by sense is to give control of senses to Krishna.
  • Yamunacharya was a king , he said when he thinks about doing some wrong activity which will not please Krishna his mouth becomes distasteful.
  • When Haridas Thakur was doing his japa in forest; a prostitutes comes and tries to distract him he says when my rounds are complete I will full fill your desire and he kept on chanting till morning thus making the prostitute fail in her intentions.
  • A devotee is always dependent on Krishna’s strength; e.g. A baby monkey holds his/her mother by her stomach so when mother jumps from one tree to another the baby also goes with her but if the baby monkey’s grip is  not strong then the baby monkey can fall, these are called Munis , munis are always dependent on their own strength .
  • Another example is kitten, kitten are completely dependent on their mother to go from one place to another , if mother takes then only they will go if not they will stay where they are ; these are all non devotees  If we don’t endeavor for God we will stay where we are.
  • But devotes are the one who endeavor and then wait for God’s mercy ; if we are doing 16 rounds attentively daily then our endeavor is complete, then Krishna’s mercy will come.
  • We have some great example like Bhakti Vinod thakur, Srila Prabhupad we need to take their blessing and take them as examples for our endeavor.
  • We should help each other to stick to our routine.

Thanks all for coming!!

Thanks to all matajis for sumptuous prasadam.

Hare Krishna
