Hare Krishna everyone, we had our 55th Bhakti Vriksha class last Friday on 11/11/2016 conducted by HG Sundarnath Prabhuji at Chintan Prabhu and Chandni Mataji home and below are the points related to Verse 2.56 and 2.57 we discussed in the class..

Thanks to Igyul mataji for leading the Damodarastakam.

In Verse 2.56 the supreme personality of Godhead said; One who is not disturbed in mind even amidst the threefold miseries or elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind.

In Verse 2.57 the supreme personality of Godhead said; In the material world, one who is unaffected by whatever good or evil he may obtain, neither praising it nor despising it, is firmly fixed in perfect knowledge.

  • Verse 2.56 is centric to word Sthitadhir, a sthitadhir is a person who is above good or bad and not affected by miseries.
  • There are three types of miseries that everyone in this world has to go thru

1 .Adibhoutik – These are miseries caused by others.

2. Adidaivik – These are miseries caused by higher beings e.g. tornado , earthquake, flood etc.

3. Adiaatmik – These are miseries caused by ourselves e.g. expectation.

  • Miseries will always come but the one who is not affected by mann is stithadhir.
  • Pralhad maharaj in Srimad Bhagavatam canto 7 said that if you want happiness then stop looking for happiness.
  • One can ask based on above point that if we don’t look for happiness then what is the motivation to do any work in life, below are 4 motivations in life.

1.) Distress – To avoid any distress in life we need to work.

2.) Profit - Making profit by working.

3.)Duty - Fulfilling your duty towards the family.

4.)Love – Love for God.

  • A spiritual person is of the highest motivation, he/she constantly  is looking for ways to make God happy and please Him.
  • What is a problem? A real problem in life is the one that no one wants but still has to face it because there is no escape from it, below are four problems in life.

1.) Birth.

2.) Old age

3.) Disease.

4.) Death.

  • When in the world you get miseries then don’t get angry and when you get happiness then don’t be fearful to loose it. This can be achieved by a steady mind.
  • How to make the mind steady?
  • Mind is not our energy. Mind, intelligence and ego are Krishna’s energy, we cannot control Krishna’s energy, all we can do is bring mind in Krishna’s service.
  • How to bring mind in Krishna’s service.
  • The first and most important service is to chant the holy mahamantra.

“Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Ram Hare Ram

Ram Ram Hare Hare”

  • Whenever there is any problem in life we need to take more shelter of God by chanting more rounds, regardless of problems in life one should chant the Holy name.

Below are some Questions from question and answer session

Question -  Why can’t the same benefit equal to chanting not be availed by thinking about Krishna?

Answer – Mind gets distracted a lot when we are thinking, Mind is not steady when we think something.

Chanting is like a catalyst in this Kaliyuga thru which we can achieve liberation.

Just like a catalyst fasten a reaction process similarly this mantra fasten the process of making a relationship Krishna and ultimately liberates us.

Question – Who invented this Mahamantra?

Answer – This mantra is coming from Krishna, this is mentioned in Upanishad.

Kali Kalshamna nash upnishad has mention about this mantra.

It says in Kaliyug people can achieve liberation by chanting the Holy mantra.

This mantra cleans our heart.

Thanks all for coming!!

Thanks to all matajis for sumptuous prasadam.

Hare Krishna
