Bhakti Vrisksha - Bhagavad Gita 2.53 -10/14/2016

On 10/14/2016 7.30 PM EST we had 51st Bhakti Vriksha class by HG Sundarnath Prabhuji at Chintan Prabhu and Chandni Mataji house and below are some key points we discussed on chapter 2 verse 53 from Bhagavad Gita as it is by His Divine Grace Swami Srila Prabhupad
- This is the last verse Krishna is saying to Arjuna in response to his statement that he is not willing to fight.
- From verse 50-53 Krishna is saying results one will get if one acts according to Bhakti Yoga.
- In chapter 2, process of devotional service starts from verse 39. From 40-49 Krishna is saying how that devotional service needs to be performed and from 50-53 He is saying what results one would get if the devotional service is performed.
- Result mentioned in verse 50 is one performing devotional service will get rid of good and bad reaction.
- Result mentioned in verse 51 is one performing devotional service will come out of cycle of life and death.
- Result mentioned in verse 52 is one performing devotional service will be indifferent to all rituals.
- Result mentioned in verse 53 is one performing devotional service will revive his/her eternal relationship with Krishna.
- Some of the devotional services to achieve above mentioned results are chanting the holy name, performing activity for pleasure of Krishna, cooking for Krishna, singing for Krishna, hearing Krishna kath etc. Our position is eternal servitor.
- Divide day in such a way that daily we give some time to Krishna, this will lead to inner satisfaction.
- Eating, sleeping, mating and defend are the 4 activities that are common between humans and animals but one speciality of human is to follow Dharma. This Dharma is Dharma of soul.
- Humans have intelligence and that intelligence is given to solve the problem of life. The problem of life is to get out of this cycle of life and death, if one is not using intelligence in the mentioned way then that human is like an animal.
- If you do good Karma then we go to heavenly planets but once the stay period in heavenly planet is complete then we have to come back to earthly planet again, that is why we should do Akarma. Akarma means doing Karma by keeping Krishna in mind then the Karma becomes a devotional service.
The last point discussed in the lecture was importance of Damodar month(Kartik month) which starts from 15th October till 14th November. This month is Krishna’s favorite month and one of the must do activities prescribed for this month is offering lamp (Deep) to Krishna. This month is the month Krishna offers sale to His devotees and things offered and done as part of devotional service in this month lends results multiple times then in usual month. Bhakti center is encouraging everyone to host the Deep daan festival at their home, devotees from Bhakti center will come and will perform Kirtan and Arti if requested.
